  • The Journey commenceth, Christchrch to Kaikoura.

    After receiving some bad news from home I commenced my Journey meeting up with the Magic bus and set off on my trip North to Kaikoura, changing my plans to not just do Whale watching but also including Dolphin Swimming and by the first evening there also Quad biking. The trip itself was uneventful arriving into Kaikoura at just after midday, where I hoped to board that days Whale watching, but due to the high winds it was cancelled so I book on to 12:45 on the wednesday, which would follow immediately after the Dolphin Swim in the morning and then immediately followed by the Quad biking in the evening. As I had nothing to do I went to one of the local Seafood bars and had a fantastic meal of Crayfish. Then went on a walk around the point of the peninsula to view the seals. As it was high tide I had been advised to walk along the cliff tops, so I did before I headed down onto the beach when I was halfway along and the tide had receded sufficently. Something which was lucky for a chinese girl who had been kayaking.  Who was brought upon the beach in front of me by boat after her Kayak had capsized and she had been in the water for about 20 mins, before the boat reached heras she drifted away and was on the brink of Hyperthermia. Luckily as I had packed my bag expecting to be whale watching I had prepared expecting it to be cold out at sea due to the wind, even though it was almost 30 on land, and so I had the 2 fleeces which I had used in Akaroa to keep me warm onthe boat. so she was stripped of and put into my Fleeces. After about 20 mins she was alright and able to walk.
